Before leaving Kununurra we went to the low side of the Kununurra Dam which was
pouring out water excess to requirements.
Wyndham was once a thriving port town, but with the development of the Ord
Scheme, and the establishment of Kununurra, Wyndham is gradually dying. There is
a wonderful lookout called Five Rivers which overlooks Cambridge Gulf. We had
lunch here then we headed for our accommodation at Emma Gorge.
There was a lot of back burning going on along the way. We had turned on to the
Gibb River Road and this section is still sealed. Tomorrow, we will be on dirt.
After arriving at our accommodation we headed straight out to walk up Emma Gorge. This was a really tough walk but at the end we were rewarded with a beautiful pool and waterfall.
We were really looking forward to our shower when we returned.

| Look closely – there would not be too many people using the picnic table! |
Heading up to Wyndam, we stopped at Parry’s Lagoon. We could have spent all
day here watching the birds come and go.
- Australian grebe with three young
- Magpie geese
- Egrets
- Cormorants
We stopped at Telegraph Hill for a view looking down over the lagoon. After a good amount of time photographing the birds at Parry’s Lagoon, we continued on to Wyndham.
