| Up too late for a proper sunrise |
| Cattle station stay with a country welcome, but it's getting there that is the challenge |
We stopped at Gibb River for photos, but we were still on Kalumburu Road. The Gibb River does not cross the Gibb River Road, but follows alongside out of view.
| Our bus parked on the banks of the Gibb River |
| Flowers of the rosella bush, not quite out, but provide a lovely show at this stage |
| Some information .... |
| Lots of signage to assist travellers. It's a long way between stops out here |
| All these sign boards were together at the junction of the Gibb River Road and Kalumburu Road |
| This butcher bird was singing his heart out at this way stop |
Later we crossed the Hann River. George told the account of Frank Hann, an explorer and prospector in the area, who was plagued with bad luck throughout his life. Only a small insignificant river for a man who in fact named many features in the area after so many other people which he had discovered.
Barnett River was our next crossing.
| A well equipped traveller |
Shortly after we made a quick stop at the Mt Barnett Roadhouse before driving down to Manning Gorge. Many of the roadhouses scattered along this route are owned and run by local indigenous communities.
A few of us took a trip across the river on a boat at Manning Gorge, which was hand pulled. After lunch we drove to Galvins Gorge where we walked to a gorgeous pool and waterfall. A very picturesque spot where many went for a swim. It was also a beautiful spot for photos.
| Rosella flowers |
| An Outback Spirit tour bus travelling the other way |
| Boabs come in all shapes and sizes. A fascinating tree |
| The walk up to Galvins Gorge followed this river. Not as arduous as some previous walks |
Our next two nights were to be spent at Bell Gorge Wilderness Lodge. Another beautiful location not far off the main road. Our last two nights before returning to Broome. Unfortunately the road out to Bell Gorge was closed so George was faced with filling our day some other way on Monday.
| You can probably guess what this is a picture of .... |
| Again, lovely accommodation and dining area |
